Battle of the Book Boyfriends: Team Ryan

Hey guys!

So as we all know today is Valentine's Day! The very cool Kelly Oram is hosting a BATTLE of the BOOK BOYFRIENDS. This fun blog event is running from February 10th to the 16th.
All of Kelly's books have strong romance plots and some really swoon worthy boys, so she will be having all of the leading boys battle it out for the title of King of the Book Boyfriends. Readers vote for their favorite, and then whichever boy wins, will get special scene or short story from that character’s POV.
ISN'T THAT FANTASTIC?

So of course, I'm here to fight for my perfect Valentine's Day fictional boyfriend, Ryan Miller. He can be seen in Being Jamie Baker, More Than Jamie Baker and coming very soon (I hope) Remember Jamie Baker.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Release Date: June 14, 2010
Publisher: Bluefields
Series: Jamie Baker #1
Characters: Jamie Baker, Ryan Miller
Pages: 353

Synopsis: An accident that should end in tragedy instead gives seventeen-year-old Jamie Baker a slew of uncontrollable superhuman abilities. To keep her secret safe Jamie socially exiles herself, earning the title of Rocklin High's resident ice queen. But during a supercharged encounter with star quarterback Ryan Miller she literally kisses anonymity goodbye. Now the annoyingly irresistible Ryan will stop at nothing to melt the heart of the ice queen and find out what makes her so special. Unfortunately, Ryan is not the only person on to her secret. Will Jamie learn to contain her unstable powers before being discovered by the media or turned into a government lab rat? More importantly, can she throw Ryan Miller off her trail before falling in love with him?

ABOUT THE BOYFRIEND:

Ryan Miller Facts:

• He plays football. Quarterback, of course.
• He is cheerful and positive.
• He's kind to everyone, really breaking that asshole, football star stereotype.
• His looks:
I studied him for a minute. He definitely wasn’t bad-looking. Honey-blond hair, blue eyes and a tall, lean build. Okay, fine, he was hot. If you like the All-American-boy-next-door type.

Why Should Ryan Win King of Fictional Book Boyfriends? Let Me Count the Ways

First of all, for those of you who don't know or have forgotten, Ryan simply oozes charm. He's charming to a T.   A perfect swoon-worthy T. He's also infuriatingly cocky.

Exhibit A:
“Ryan.” I sighed. “You only say that because I’m the first girl who’s ever said no.”
“I know you think that.” Ryan shook his head forcefully. “But it’s just not true.”
“You mean you’ve actually been rejected before?” I didn’t hold back any of my doubt.
“Well, no,” Ryan admitted, that cocky grin creeping into the corners of his mouth. “But you know that’s not what I meant.”

 Exhibit B:
“You can’t ever touch me unless I say. No more tackling me, and especially no more surprise kissing.” He actually laughed at my request. “No promises.”
Stupid, cocky boyfriend.

But then he can make up for it by being cheesy...
“You’re crazy. You know that, right?”
Ryan got this big cheesy smile on his face and said, “Crazy about you.”

He's persistent when he truly wants something.
“You had to have felt it too. Maybe that’s what they mean by chemistry.”
“We don’t have chemistry, Ryan.”
“Well, I say we do.”
“Well, I say you’re wrong.”
I tried to walk away again but he stopped me. “Then prove it. Kiss me again and tell me you feel nothing.”

He doesn't care if you have issues, he's there no matter what.
“You’re cute when you’re unstable,” Ryan said, “and I like your issues.”

These are some of my reasons, but just trust me when I tell you there is no better boyfriend that Ryan. If you're still not convinced, here's another little snippet of my Valentine hottie, because he can be quite cheeky as well:
“Are you going to put on your old cheer uniform?”
Ryan was a little too excited by the thought of me in a costume, so I squashed that idea, and fast.
“In your dreams.”
“Not exactly.” Ryan grinned wickedly. “In my dreams you’re usually dressed like Wonder Woman.”

Of course I needed someone to be my perfect Ryan Miller and here he is:

I know Matt Barr is a bit old to be Ryan, but he's just it in my mind! Plus, he's hot and that second shot with the football? There's no denying he's my Ryan.
