Entangled Embrace—Interview with Jus + Teaser of Ruined... OMG it's a Launch Party!

Buy the Book: Amazon | Barnes and Noble
Synopsis: Hell is looking for a way to break loose…

Jax lost the genetic lottery. Descended from Cain, the world's first murderer, he's plagued by a curse that demands violence in exchange for his happiness. He left everything behind, including the girl he loved, but thriving on the pain of others is lonely… And it's killing him.

After a series of heartbreaking losses, Samantha put rubber to pavement and headed for college as fast as her clunker could carry her. But she can't outrun her problems. When an attack at school drives her back home, she's thrown into the path of a past—and a guy—she's been trying to forget.

Sam strains Jax's control over his darkness, but running isn't an option this time. Someone—or, something—followed her home from school: a ruthless monster with a twisted plan centuries in the making. Forced together to survive, and fighting an attraction that could destroy them both, Jax and Sam must stop a killer bent on revenge.

Interview with Jus:

CB: When was the first time you said, "This is what I want to do! This [writing] is my thing."

Jus: Growing up I was always going to be either a writer or a chef, but I think the moment came right before I was set to start classes at the C.I.A. It was a spot decision and I haven't regretted it once :P

CB: What's your favorite ice cream topping?

Jus: Hot fudge. But not the kind that gets all clumpy or hard as it cools. Friendly's is my fave.

CB: When you think up a new idea for a novel how long does it usually take you to decide if you want to start writing it or it'll be discarded?

Jus: It varies. Sometimes I'll get 50% through, sometimes it's only a few chapters. Sometimes, like with Ruined, I'll get 50% though, then put it aside with the intention to toss it, but go back later on. I have sooooo many started books on my computer. It's a little scary.

CB: What place in the world would you really love to visit that you have not, yet?

Jus: I would love to see Italy or Ireland. But, sadly, I'm terrified to fly :D

CB: If I asked you to describe RUINED in three words, which would you say?

Jus: Sexy, dark, and different.

Awwww! I wanna thank Jus for always being so awesome and because she's answered questions for me before and she's always eager for everything and for having awesome books :)

So for my stop, besides the interview, I was going to review this awesome-looking book for you guys, unfortunately the galley was not prepared in time, BUT I have something really cool and that you'll appreciate as much or maybe even more... it's a teaser!. Enjoy! :)

“Hey, I’m just saying… Putting yourself alone with the sexier brother is just plain cruel. It's like dangling a juicy carrot in front of a starving horse.”

"Did—did you just refer to yourself as a carrot?"

"I think the better question would be, did I just refer to you as a starving horse…"

Synopsis: Her theory of attraction is about to get a new angle.

Spring Honeycutt wants two things: to ace her sustainable living thesis and to save the environment. Both seem hopelessly unobtainable until her college professor suggests that with a new angle, her paper could be published. Spring swears she’ll do whatever it takes to ensure that happens.

“Whatever it takes,” however, means forming a partnership with the very hot, very privileged, very conceited Henry Knightly.

Henry is Spring's only hope at publication, but he's also the ├╝ber-rich son of a land developer and cash-strapped Spring’s polar opposite. Too bad she can't help being attracted to the way he pushes her buttons, both politically and physically.  As they work on her thesis, Spring finds there's more to Henry than his old money and argyle sweaters…but can she drop the loud-and-proud act long enough to let him in? Suddenly, choosing between what she wants and what she needs puts Spring at odds with everything she believes in.

Definitely, Maybe in Love is a modern take on Pride and Prejudice that proves true love is worth risking a little pride.

Synopsis: It’s hard not to answer when trouble comes knocking

A girl who can’t forget…

Twenty-two-year-old Lucy Carver is like Sherlock Holmes in ballet flats, but her eidetic memory is more albatross than asset, and something she usually keeps hidden. When she notices that something’s amiss at her dead-end job, she jumps at the chance to finally use her ability for good. That is, until, a man is murdered, and she becomes the target of the killer.

A detective on his first case…

Detective Eli Reyes is overbearing, pompous, way too hot for Lucy’s own good, and seems as determined to ruin her relationship with her boyfriend, John, as finding the murderer. He brings Lucy in on the case, thinking she can help him get to the truth, only to cut her loose when he realizes he’s gotten far more than he ever bargained for.

A past that won’t go away…

When memories from her childhood invade her present, Lucy discovers a mystery bigger than she could have imagined. With the killer still after her, and Eli nowhere to be found, she takes things into her own hands, determined to expose the truth no matter what—before trouble comes knocking…again.

Mary Duncanson, who also writes as Mary Malcolm, lives in North Texas with a menagerie of animals and feral roommates. She is currently looking to adopt a husband, preferably housebroken, preferably as silly as her. When she’s not corraling her household, she’s talking to the characters in her head and hoping they talk back. When she’s not doing all that, she can be found wandering around Central Market with a happy, drooly foodie look on her face. Do not judge her, it is her Mecca. Mary’s been writing since she was a teenager though spent quite a few years studying toward becoming a doctor before she realized she wanted to be a full-time author. Unfortunately, the people who own her student loans still want to be paid for the years they supported her medical dreams. Mary lives on a steady diet of coffee and chocolate and believes, like Eleanor Roosevelt, that people should believe in the beauty of their dreams. She also believes people should ignore the word should because really, it’s kind of a judgmental word. Mary dreams of one day living as a full-time, well paid novelist (hint, hint) and also of one day traveling to Chile to pay homage to her soul mate, Pablo Neruda.

Never Let Go by Scarlett Edwards—Blog Tour!

Publisher: Edwards Publishing
Series: N/A
Age Group: New Adult
Pages: 305
Format: Kindle
Source: Literati Author Services
Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: Inspired by true events...

The first day of college gives every girl a chance to reinvent herself.

I go and screw mine up by meeting the most gorgeous guy I've seen in five years while talking to my cat.

But Andrew Crowner is far from judgmental. By the end of our interaction, he has me smitten by his easy manner and kind smile. And from the way his eyes linger on me before he leaves, I start to think that maybe I've caught his attention, too.

I let myself believe that luck may finally be on my side. That is, until I stumble on my roommate, and her overnight guest: Spencer Ashford.

Lean, tattooed, and sexy as sin, Spencer is exactly the type I need to avoid. I would have no trouble with that... were it not for his swift and inexplicable interest in me.

Suddenly, I go from a girl with next-to-no experience with boys to one caught in the cross-hairs of two completely different men.

Andrew's interest is wholesome and sweet. Spencer's is edgy and raw. My choice should be easy. But there are always complications, and sometimes, matters of the heart take the least expected turns.

My Review: What a beautiful story! From the beginning it's amazing and it's so heart-wrenching. I squealed and cried and oohed and aahed incessantly! Scarlett captures a first love fabulously well and I loved how her writing just flowed everywhere, it was natural, I could lose myself and forget I was reading–I felt there. The characters were so real, so solid, the story so genuine, I felt it all just come alive and leave me wanting more! I'm so excited to have found this new author, I just know I'll love her other works if they're as awesome as this one!

The Dollhouse Asylum by Mary Gray—UNDERGROUND BLOG TOUR!

Release Date: October 22, 2013
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Series: N/A
Characters: Cheyenne, Teo Richardson
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 296
Format: ARC
Source: Publisher
Buy the Book: Amazon | Book Depository

Synopsis: A virus that had once been contained has returned, and soon no place will be left untouched by its destruction. But when Cheyenne wakes up in Elysian Fields--a subdivision cut off from the world and its monster-creating virus--she is thrilled to have a chance at survival.

At first, Elysian Fields, with its beautiful houses and manicured lawns, is perfect. Teo Richardson, the older man who stole Cheyenne's heart, built it so they could be together. But when Teo tells Cheyenne there are tests that she and seven other couples must pass to be worthy of salvation, Cheyenne begins to question the perfection of his world.

The people they were before are gone. Cheyenne is now "Persephone," and each couple has been re-named to reflect the most tragic romances ever told. Everyone is fighting to pass the test, to remain in Elysian Fields. Teo dresses them up, tells them when to move and how to act, and in order to pass the test, they must play along.

If they play it right, then they'll be safe.

But if they play it wrong, they'll die.

My Review: This book was really good. It was very confusing at first and I wasn't very convinced, but once you start understanding a few things you get sucked in. It was compelling, eerie and strange. I thought it was pretty fresh and I enjoyed it very much. I wasn't very enthused with Cheyenne because she wasn't a very strong personality in my opinion. It's like she just let herself be tugged by Teo like his little puppet, no matter what. It's very sinister and dark and I got goosebumps reading about it. I can't be sure exactly what my thoughts are on this whole scene but I can tell you that it was very creative and I loved how different it was and how incredible it all was. It's a wild ride, so sit tight and enjoy :)

Stripped by Brenda Rothert—Blog Tour!

Release Date:
Characters: Abby Gillis, Chris
Age Group: New Adult
Pages: 262
Format: iBook
Source: YA Bound Book Tours
Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: Abby Gillis is used to being called a promiscuous, uneducated whore. It’s all in a day’s work when you’re a stripper. Since her job allows her to support her siblings, 24-year-old Abby takes it all off in stride. She’s never had trouble keeping men at arm’s length – until she meets ER physician Chris Reneau, who is sexy, sweet and interested in more than what’s beneath her clothes. As their relationship unfolds, Abby becomes increasingly aware of the desire building in her for the first time, and of her yearning to be wanted by the one man who truly sees all of her.

Commitment-averse Chris finds himself in uncharted territory. He wants Abby, that’s clear, but he can’t accept not having all of her. As the distance between them erodes, he tries to convince Abby to give up stripping for a chance at something real.

As the two of them get closer, Abby realizes that truly baring it all has nothing to do with her body. Chris makes her feel more exposed than she ever has, and she has to grapple with what’s left when her notions about herself and those around her are stripped away, leaving only the naked truth.

My Review: The story was pretty good. I mean, I had some touble with the writing. I felt a little lost and since it was in 3rd person you can switch from telling what's going on with the male and then female, but I had a lot of trouble with the transitions. I was suddenly reading about Abby and then I jumped to Chris. Also, like changing from one scene to the next? It's like, no transition whatsoever, so I had quite some trouble with the writing per se. The story though was another thing. I liked it a lot. It was nice to see how Chris and Abby's relationship progressed and how they start off as just friends. Abby is really against them being more than friends and the thing with Chris is he's throwing off mixed signals and she just isn't sure what to do anymore. I loved how Abby was honest from the start about what she was and that Chris was accepting of her. And I adored the ending, absolutely sweet.

Just One Reason by Kirsten DeMuzio—Blog Tour!

Release Date: July 18, 2013
Series: First and Last Series #2
Characters: Lindsay Ross, Grady Hawke
Age Group: New Adult Contemporary
Pages: 308
Format: iBook
Source: Literati Author Services
Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: As teenagers, Lindsay and Grady found a love together that few people are lucky enough to ever experience.
When Lindsay Ross decided to visit her aunt for the summer in a small lake town in New York, she didn’t expect anything other than an escape from her demanding parents. She certainly didn’t expect Grady Hawke. At the end of the summer, Lindsay and Grady made plans for their future and vowed to be together forever. Back in New York City, events beyond her control forced Lindsay to turn her back on Grady and their love.
Grady has spent the last five years trying to forget the one girl who broke his heart. But when Lindsay arrives back in town unannounced, will Grady get to know the woman she has become and find out the real reason she left him all those years ago? Or will he push her away for good?

My Review: I have not yet read the first book in this series, but I am definitely very motivated to read it now. I absolutely adored this story. One of the things I loved the most was how pissed Grady was at Lindsay! Yes, I just loved how he just assumed that Lindsay didn't love him back when it all happened and he was just pissed and determined to make her feel unwelcome in his town. It was a very real reaction because he was hurt and confused. Many books would have the lead character be all forgiving and willing to listen quickly and whatnot and while it makes the male lead seem all swoony and perfect I loved that Grady was so not. He was real and a total man. He acted like a heartbroken man would and I loved the very real emotions I saw in them both. Lindsay was a very strong character and I loved her. She was determined and even though she made serious mistakes in her past, she tries very hard to turn her life into the direction she truly wants it to go. Lindsay and Grady together were just... explosive. They had so much chemistry and they would just argue and agh I love them. Let's talk a little bit about the secret. It is a secret. This means it wasn't this huge deal about some secret and then it turns out to be some stupid secret and you're left thinking, "This was it?" NO. It was the type of secret that leaves your mouth agape and you give this loud gasp and you're like, "OH MY GOD THIS IS NOT HAPPENING I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED." That type of secret.

Pages: 354
Format: ePub

Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: Secrets…

They weigh you down. I’ve kept a secret all my life. It’s my mother’s secret, too. I inherited it from her along with a unique ability that only we possess. She’s gone now, another victim of addiction. If her death isn’t enough to bring me to my knees, her betrayal flays me to the bone. Because the secret my mother and I have been keeping is just one of many she’d kept. She never told me I have an older brother. And now he’s here, eager to be my guardian.

There is no one else. So I move across the country to live with this stranger, my brother. But experience has taught me that most situations are temporary and forming attachments only leads to hurt in the end. That’s why I’m determined to keep to myself in this new place, struggling to seem aloof while I’m quietly breaking apart.

Then I meet Lucas…

His magnetism is hard to resist, and most girls at school aren’t resisting. I don’t fall so easily though, especially not for guys who use their good looks as a weapon. From the start, our interactions are tense and volatile. I know it’s because I’m denying the unwelcome desire that grips me when he’s near. I think he feels it, too. He looks at me with an intensity that threatens to unhinge my resolve. Soon he’s trying to break through the walls that past hurts have built.

But I’m not what I appear to be, and it wouldn’t be fair to get involved with him. At least that’s what I tell myself. Until a terrible act of violence reveals that Lucas has a secret, too. It’s a secret that links us together and ties us to an evil history I could never have imagined.

My Review: This book, okay to be honest I'm not sure if I'm capable of reviewing this book without at least some spoilers, so I'm gonna say this now: read at your own risk. I doubt that the spoilers will be major but well you never know. Anyway, this book as a start I had no freaking clue that it was paranormal. When she [Raeielle? Raielle? I don't remember how it's properly spelled, but I really don't want to go look it up!] started talking about how she could heal people and whatnot, I was like, "Woah, woah back it up! What do you mean heal?" lol. But it was really good. Lucas pissed me off a bit to be honest. I'm not a big Lucas fan, but he was okay. He was too... grrr... I want you... ignoring you.... So, nope I didn't quite fall in love with him. Even though he did redeem himself a teeny bit there at the end when he was very helpful and willing to do anything for Rae. Her powers were something that I found very cool and intriguing so I loved that. I also just loved how it all sort of just escalated and all of a sudden I didn't even know what was going on so I needed to keep reading and reading and then someone got something and someone got pissed and someone killed someone and someone flew in and then BAM! The End.
And I know that you did not understand a lot of that but I refuse to spoil the ending! But it sounds good, right? Yup, it is, so go read it!

Chasing Mrs. Right by Katee Robert

Release Date: March 25, 2013
Publisher: Entangled: Brazen
Series: Come Undonde #2
Characters: Roxanne, Ian
Age Group: Adult
Pages: 263
Format: Kindle
Source: Publisher
Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: It was only supposed to last one night…

Roxanne Stokes doesn’t believe in love. She does, however, believe in the sexy-as-sin stranger who literally knocks her off her feet in front of a nightclub. The chemistry sparking between them takes her breath away, and she’ll do anything to ease the pain in his eyes…until she realizes the handsome stranger is her best friend’s older brother who’s just come home from war.

Ian Walser had no idea the gorgeous woman he slept with the night of his homecoming party was his little sister’s best friend—or that she’d be gone before morning. Roxanne’s touch soothes him in a way nothing else can, and he’s not ready to walk away from that yet. Not when spending time with her gave Ian a glimpse of everything he’s ever wanted.

When his sister unwittingly pushes them together, he sees his chance. But convincing a woman who doesn’t believe in love that she’s his Mrs. Right might be harder than any mission Ian’s undertaken. Good thing this soldier likes a challenge…

My Review: Ian and Roxanne were amazing together. They had the perfect amount of wit, spark and spice. They  meet at Ian's welcome home party from Afghanistan. The guy is a bit damaged, not surprisingly with all of the horrible things he's witnessed and has lived. Roxanne meets Ian outside of the club where the party is being thrown when he knocks Roxannne over—literally. They get to talking and click. Insert wild, monkey sex a bit later. Before the night is over Roxanne notices that Ian is her bff's brother (she'd never met him before) and she flees like she's on fire. They meet again (duh, seriously Roxanne you really thought it would be possible?) So, anyway they try to have this.... meh relationship seems too solid a word. More like dating a bit. Things are a mess. They're both a bit screwed up and I really loved this like a lot but I'm gonna stop because as I am writing this it's really late and I'm really tired and i feel like I'm rambling, sorry. To end this disastrous review, yes I did like the book.

But the day of reckoning is fast approaching, and to stand victorious, Dante will have to embrace something inside himself he never has before—faith.

The old Sam took "mean girl" to a whole new level, and it's clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She's getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she's falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her-even if the old Sam treated him like trash. But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn't just buried deep inside of Sam's memory-someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?

My Thoughts: OMG I LOVE THIS COVER! I love this whole new moving covers thingy it's so epic. And let's just stop for a second and look at this cover, really look at it. How the mirror goes darker and it looks a bit sinister and then suddenly snap! the little ballerina gets her snapped and the mirror cracks at the upper, it was so expected. I was squealing everywhere and getting the chills at the same time. And another thing is I didn't notice until a bit later, but the ballerinas aren't holding the same pose. Wicked cover.

So what do YOU think about the cover?
