Frigid by J. Lynn

Frigid by J. Lynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Buy the Book: Amazon | Book Depository
Synopsis: For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

My Review: I read all of Jennifer's books because I just love her! This book was no disappointment and Jen is still up on top. I loved this book very much and the characters. Sydney is very shy and nerdy, but at the same time she's so very strong and I loved how she (teeny spoiler) got the balls to talk to Kyler about her feelings and be like, "Hey, I fucking want you!" (end of teeny spoiler) even  if at first it didn't exactly turn out the way she hoped. Kyler was this total man-whore, but good. He was sweet with Sydney and he was very hot. The story was so incredible and I loved how Jennifer added a bit of suspense to the whole thing with the strange things happening at the resort.

The Emerald Tablet (Legends of Amun Ra, #1) by Joshua Silverman

The Emerald Tablet by Joshua Silverman
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Buy the Book: Amazon
Synopsis: Leoros doesn't have many friends. The son of a scientist and archaeologist, he is constantly on the move. But when his parents make a startling discovery in Egypt, Leoros' world is turned upside down.

When an archaeologist discovers the mythic Emerald Tablet buried beneath Egypt’s desert, her son decodes the ancient text leading him to a distant world.

On that world, a slave girl begins a journey towards a destiny she cannot imagine. But when an ancient foe rises from the ashes, they will be brought together by forces neither understands.

Leoros, who dreams of being like the heroes in the comic books, must fight to unlock the secrets of the universe to save a people he never knew existed.

Atlantia, whose bloody visions wake her in the night, senses the darkness coming.

Together they will face an enemy with the power of dark energy, lose a mentor to the assassin’s blade, and be betrayed by someone they trust. Their fight for the future is just beginning, and before it is over, a final sacrifice must be made. When the darkness comes, will they stand and fight or will they join it?

There is darkness in everyone.

My Review: I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves sci-fi. It's an exhilarating read and i loved how the author so astutely combines Egyptian and Greek mythology. It has tons of action, adventure and many fun surprises along the trip. The book would have been better with some help from an editor, but all in all a very enjoyable and thrilling read.

The SOUL TAKEN Excerpt

A suffocating heat pressed all points of my soul. Even though I hadn’t breathed in a hundred years, I felt the need to inhale, yet I couldn’t. A fire burned in my chest.

I attempted to open my eyes, to move one finger, a toe maybe, but the pressure immobilized my body. The burning sensation tore through me over and over until I had just about given up the fight.

But, just as quickly as the pressure came, it lifted, bringing a seemingly endless barrage of images. I was experiencing someone else’s memories, as if I took a back seat in her mind and watched her life flash before our eyes. I caught her image in a mirror, a small golden-haired girl.

I tried to slow the images or possibly make sense of them but, just as I grabbed a hold on one of them, it slipped through my fingers and moved onto the next. I followed this girl through all the moments of her life as her memories flashed before my eyes.

Darker emotions overlapped the girl’s happy memories. I saw a young red-haired girl in an old-fashioned dress; her demure eyes looked back at me. Jealousy flared through me. My heart squeezed, watching this girl who was not part of Ally’s memories. A rush of energy pumped through my body; the power touched every fiber of my soul. Then the vision dissolved and I was forced back to experiencing Ally.

Was I dreaming?

Souls didn’t dream. I told myself firmly.

The visions started to slow and I was able to focus on one.

I had to tell them, even though Dad said I couldn’t. But in a week I wouldn’t be the same girl. Or would I? I still wasn’t clear on everything. Becoming a Guard: it was my life’s mission, he had said. A life that was no longer my own. Would it be easier to let this life slip away? I would regret each day if I didn’t. Maybe I would start with Seth. Sweet Seth. He’d be crushed, but someone would take my place. Dad had said something about people—humans— was I not human? Humans were drawn to those like me. Maybe Seth only liked me because I was different, unexplainably different.

I ripped the paper off the coffee sleeve. It was now or never.

Real by Katy Evans

Real by Katy Evans
My Rating: 1 of 5 stars
Buy the Book: Amazon | Book Depository
Synopsis: A fallen boxer.
A woman with a broken dream.
A competition…

He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting…

Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I’ve ever met in my life.

He’s the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I’m drawn to him as I’ve never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he’s near, I need to remind myself that I am strong–but he is stronger. And now it’s my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents . . .

But the one he’s most threatening to, now, is me.

I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations.

If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

My Review: I first started reading this book because Remington won the NACrushTourney, so I was curious to see what was up when there were sooo many amazing book boyfriends! From the first chapter I had Massive Eye-Rolling Syndrome. Seriously, do you know how many times her "sex muscles clenched"? Countless. I'm sorry but this was just not the book for me. I found Brooke to be extremely needy of a man she doesn't know two shits about and the way she describes him? Makes me think feral bear, not hot guy. It's not a book I would recommend, although many people love it so obviously there must be something that I'm not seeing.

Chameleon by Kelly Oram—Blog Tour!

Hello! And welcome to my stop on the Chameleon blog tour! It's always a blast to participate and to have everyone get involved and bloghopping. Today I have an interview with Kelly Oram for you and my review! Hope you enjoy it and keep on hoppin' :)

About the Book:

Chameleon by Kelly Oram
Buy the Book: Amazon
Synopsis: For small-town rebel Dani Webber magic and monsters are no more real than the Easter Bunny… until the day she accidentally stops time. Dani quickly discovers that not only do supernaturals exist, but she herself is one of them. This is great news for her life-long best friend Russ, who can finally come clean about his own supernatural status and his undying love for her. Before the two can start to enjoy the long overdue relationship, Dani is taken by a powerful council of supernaturals who believe she is the Chosen One destined to save them from extinction.

As if being kidnapped and expected to save the world isn’t bad enough, an ancient prophecy warns of the Chosen One’s dark nature: “Only the truest love will keep her an agent for good.” The council believes they know who this “true love” is and, unfortunately, that person isn’t Russ. The mysterious, powerful and devastatingly handsome Seer is the last person Dani wants in her life, but when she starts having visions of a horrific future, she has no one else to turn to for help.

Soon Dani finds herself torn between two very different boys with two very different opinions of whom she can trust. With the visions getting worse and time running out, Dani is forced to put aside her feelings and work with both the Seer and Russ before an ancient evil is unleashed upon the earth.

My Review: I really, really loved this book! It had tons of actiona and I love it when the female leads are fiery and strong and independant. That's exactly the way I can describe Dani. She's very tough and I love it. Isn't very good with the whole being pushed around. Emotionally though she is a total wreck. I was a bit pissed at her for that, but I guess I could understand how she felt torn between her best friend and her "one true love" according to the council. Sometimes I just wanted to shake her and slap her. Other times I just felt so bad for her because of all that is going on that I just wanted to hug her and help her. She was all over the spectrum emotionally and I felt the same way reading this book. It was all over the place and I wasn't sure whom to trust and whom to just rip to shreds for being a traitor. So many times I was convinced it was one person then I'd think it were impossible and then I'd be skeptical all over again. Tons of points for suspense and action, Kelly. Definitely will love to read the sequel.

Meet the Author:

The Interview:

Edmiary: First of all of course I want to say it's so awesome being a part of the tour and thank you for letting me interview you.
Okay, so I'm gonna start by asking something pretty simple and it's always nice to see the different responses. If you could have dinner with any author (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

Kelly: I’d say either Meg Cabot or John Green. Meg Cabot is my favorite author and a lot of the inspiration behind my writing. I’d love to be able to pick her brain and hear her story. John Green is also one of my favorite authors. I’d love to have dinner with him because he is adorable and hilarious and brilliant! Do you guys watch his webcasts? If you haven’t, you should. SO AWESOME.

Edmiary: What first inspired you to write CHAMELEON? Another book? A show? A dream?

Kelly: It wasn’t really anything specific other than my love for paranormal fantasy. I’ve always loved paranormal fantasy and was determined to give it a try. I sat down and had a brainstorming session with my sister and came up with the idea for Dani’s character and her powers. The rest all built from there.

Edmiary: I know you are familiar with writing supernatural before (loved BEING JAMIE BAKER), but this was much deeper into the whole supernatural. How was the writing experience? In terms of research, imagination, etc.

Kelly: It was a whole new experience for me. Being Jamie Baker is sci-fi/comic book so it did have some supernatural elements to it, but with Chameleon I got to create an entire new world. I got to use lots of different supernatural species that I love, and create my own rules and lore. It was harder than any book I’d written before it because it was new to me, and it did take some research, but it was something I’ve always wanted to do and I loved every second of it.

Edmiary: What book did you recently read that you absolutely loved?

Kelly: Hmm. I read so many books it’s hard to say. I did whip through the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima not long ago. I don’t think I can possibly gush enough over how much I loved those books! So amazing!

Edmiary: And my last question is, if you could be any supernatural creature, what would you choose? (You can't pick Chameleon! lol)

Kelly: Oh, I would be a magic user hands down. Witch, warlock, wizard whatever you want to call it. Magic rules and I would have a lot of fun with it. ☺

Edmiary: Okay, that's it Kelly and thanks for stopping by Crazed Bookie! :)

#NACrushTourney—WHY should you vote #TEAMLUCAS?

Hi there, our names are Willow and Donna and we are from The Romance Cover. We are the advocates for the total hottie, Lucas from Easy by Tammara Webber.  We are a relatively new blog, although we met a year ago through our love of books after Willow started a forum thread entitled "Looking for books like EASY" (and two other books) and Donna answered. So you can see we totally loved EASY and Lucas! Here's why:

It's EASY to vote for Lucas..... Just look at his bio:
Name: Lucas
Eye Colour: Clear gray - blue
Hair: Dark
Build: Medium but muscly
Height:  6ft 2in
Distinguishing Features: He has some hot tattoos and a lip ring.

It's EASY to vote for Lucas because:
–        He's Artistic - he loves sketching and drawing, especially his girl.
–       He's intelligent – Economics private tutor, engineering major
–       He rides a motorbike – need we say more!
–       He's a protector - He rescued Jacqueline from a dangerous situation without even knowing her and continues to do so.
–       He works hard, has many jobs to put himself through Uni.
–       He's fit and security conscious - he teaches self-defence classes, master of Taekwondo.
–       He’s been through a lot but came out the other side a better person, whereas others would have just given up.
–       He respects Jacqueline - he doesn't want to rush it with her:
 "Jacqueline say stop."
I shook my head once, my palm sliding down to press against the evidence of what his body wanted from me. "Don't Stop," I breathed, telling him that I wanted what he wanted, unconditionally. I kissed him back, sure in the knowledge that my actions and my words were all the confirmation he needed to continue. I was wrong."Say stop, please. Please." The last word whispered was a plea I couldn't deny, even if I didn't understand the reason for it.
–       He's attentive:
“I noticed you the first week. Not just because of how pretty you are, though of course, that played into it. It was the way you lean onto your elbows when you're listening in class, when something catches your interest. And when you laugh, it's never to get attention, it's just-laughter. The way you obsessively tuck your hair behind your ear on the left side, but let the right side fall down like a screen. And when you're bored, you tap your foot soundlessly and move your fingers on the desktop like you're playing an instrument. I wanted to sketch you.”
–       He makes good coffee and can cook! - ;-)
–       Tattoo’s!!! – yes we know we have mentioned them already, but seriously….

It’s EASY to vote for Lucas..... Just listen how Jacqueline's friends talk about him:
Erin: "Who was that hot guy? If I wasn't stone cold sober, I'd think he was a figment of my sex-starved imagination"
Maggie: "Who was that beautiful guy and more importantly, why didn't you solve your sex-starvedness with him? Holy hell, I think i'd be willing to boot Will outta bed for a night with him"

It's EASY to vote for Lucas.... Just listen to Jacqueline:
Pulling off the cap and dropping it on my bed, he placed the pencil on his sketchbook and slid both hands through his flattened hair, and then shook it out, resulting in a bed head look. Good God. When he drew the hoodie over his head, his white t-shirt pulled up a bit with it, and I got my answer on how fat the tattoos extended. Four lines of script, too small to read, snaked around his left side. Some sort of Celtic-looking design balanced it on the right. Bonus: I now knew what Erin meant by lickable abs.
“The way he kissed me felt like a brand. Like he was tattooing himself under my skin.”
My last coherent thought, as Lucas took his time kissing and touching every part of me he could reach and my body arched into his, was Oh... so this is what all the fuss is about.
His breath in my ear, he ran his tongue along the curved edge, sucking the fleshy lobe and my small diamond stud into his mouth, and my eyes drifted closed while I babbled a weak sound of longing.

It's EASY to vote for Lucas..... Just look at our favourite Scene:
“The night we met – I’m not like that guy”. His jaw was rigid. “I know tha-“ He placed a finger over my lips, his expression softening. “So I don’t want you to feel pressured. Or overpowered. But I do, absolutely, want to kiss you right now. Badly.” He trailed his finger over my jaw and down my throat, and then onto his lap.
I stared at him. Finally comprehending that he was waiting for a response, I said “Okay”.
He dropped the pad onto the floor and the pencil followed, his stare never unlocking from mine. As he leaned over me, I felt a heightened sense of awareness of every part of my body that touched a part of his – the edge of his hip pressed to mine, his chest sliding against mine, his fingers tracing from wrists to forearms and then framing my face. He held me in place, lips near my ear. When he kissed the sensitive spot, my breath shuddered. “You’re so beautiful”, he whispered, moving his mouth to mine.
His lips were warm and firm, pressing against mine, and when his tongue began a gentle onslaught against the line of my lips, I opened them. Tongue delving into my mouth, his hands travelled in opposite directions – one to my still crossed wrists, pressing them hard into the mattress above my head, one skimming down my side, digging into my waist. He kissed me harder, claiming the responses he coaxed from me. My head swam, and I was drawing in short bursts of air as if I was surfacing every few seconds before diving deeper. Just when I thought I couldn’t take the intensity, he lessened the pressure and sucked my lower lip softly, brushed his tongue over it, and then repeated the movement. I fidgeted beneath him and his tongue slipped between my lips again and repeated its closer examination – caressing my tongue, my teeth, the roof of my mouth.
If someone had asked, How does this compare to kissing Kennedy? I would have answered, “Who?”

Now that is what we call a first kiss!!! Hawt!!!

It's EASY to vote for Lucas..... Just look at our favourite line:
"Choosing to be with you isn't a difficult decision Jacqueline," he breathed, pulling back one final time to stare into my eyes. "It's Easy. Incredibly easy."

So now you know why falling in love with Lucas is so EASY, it makes the decision to vote for Lucas incredibly EASY.  Vote Lucas now!
