Waiting on Wednesday (4)

WoW is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.

This week I have chosen the final book in a Trilogy. A very damn good trilogy. Yeah, it sure is fun waiting on that last book, huh?
I am just dying to read this book like you wouldn't believe! The second book ended in such a cliffhanger and left me so furious, curious, a little insane and simply in complete turmoil. It's one of those books that's so fucking good that and genius that you don't know whether to put it in a pedestal or burn it. yeah, those types of books are the best. the ones that make you feel so... ARGH!

This week's pick is...

Release Date: March 5, 2013
Publisher: Harper Teen
Series: Delirium #3
Characters: Lena Holoway, Hana , Alex, Julian Fineman
Age Group: 14+
Pages: 400
Pre-order the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight.
After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancĂ©e of the young mayor. Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.

Since I'm dying to read this book, obviously I have read Pandemonium... so expect a review very soon ;)

Scarlet by A.C Gaughen—Guest Reviewer

Release Date: February 14, 2012

Series: N/A
Characters: Scarlet, Robin, Much, Little John, Gisborne, Sheriff of Nottingham
Age Group: 12+
Pages: 292

Synopsis: Many readers know the tale of Robin Hood, but they will be swept away by this new version full of action, secrets, and romance.
Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the wrath of the evil Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only the Hood and his band know the truth: the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. Helping the people of Nottingham outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham could cost Scarlet her life as Gisbourne closes in.
It’s only her fierce loyalty to Robin—whose quick smiles and sharp temper have the rare power to unsettle her—that keeps Scarlet going and makes this fight worth dying for.

Guest Reviewer: Bridget
Age: 27
State/Country: Idaho, U.S
Rating: 5 Stars

Review: I love fairy tale retelling, and this is a great retelling of one of my favorite legends Robin Hood. Everyone has heard of the infamous Will Scarlet but did you know that he is a girl? In this book Scarlet is a girl posing as a boy in Robins band of merry men. The band steals from the rich to save the poor from the evil sheriff of Nottingham.
Scarlet is our heroine in this book and I adore her. I always love girls that can take care of themselves and aren't always a damsel in distress. Scarlet is an amazing thief  and she is the one that is always breaking all their friends out of prison. She also has a big secret that she hasn't told anyone not even Robin. Scarlet is such a likable character she has a great personality with lots of spunk. She has a beautiful soft side that shines through every once in a while, but she is always putting on the tuff guy front so no can see how much she is really hurting. As the book goes on her layers are peeled away one at a time and you get to see who she really is. She is just a young beautiful girl that has a past that she is trying to make up for.
Robin is our wonderful hero in this book and I love him. He leads his band to try and protect the people that are truly his subjects. His title was stripped from him by Prince John who then appointed the sheriff to rule. Robin is a wonderful leader he cares about his men's safety more then his own and he has a special spot in his heart for Scarlet. He feels unworthy of love because of his past so he is always trying to push her away.
A.C. Gaughen has wonderful writing and I cant believe that this is her debut novel. The world she created is beautiful and very intriuging. The book is very fast paced and hard to put down. The ending was left pretty open so I really hope that there is a sequel to come, but if not I will be defiantly be reading anything else this author writes because this book was so good!!!!

In My Mailbox (18)

IMM is a weekly meme hosted Kristi at The Story Siren.

Hello my friends!

As I have recently discovered I have an OCD when it comes to buying books—even if I have zippo time to read them! Ag!—I bought two new reads for my Kindle this week. Right now I'm not even supposed to here so shhh. I have to read this chapter one of my professors sent me, but OMG my eyes just glaze over! Do you know that feeling? When you literally feel your eyes slipping slowly to the back of your head? Yeah, that's what mine have been doing... and I've only read like 3 paragraphs. So, I figured I'd take a quick break and post an IMM :)
Anyway! Here is this week's bundle:

Reviewers Wanted!!!

Hey guys! :)

As I've mentioned before I am going to start University this Fall and I finally start on Monday! Yipee! But before that I've had to go for other matters, like orientations and welcome assembly type things and other stuff. I'm also working during the afternoons and working on this top secret thing and am reading **** with the awesome **** that is just wow, but it also takes up my remaining time, so I am super tired when I get home! And as you can see I cannot post as frequently as I would like and once I start to take my courses on Monday I'll have even less time. I don't want to leave my readers hanging or be totally AWOL, so on account of I love all of you guys I am soliciting reviewers!
They would be doing guest reviews on my blog and that way I can review more frequently on the blog instead of just when I have to time to read and review something. Those of you interested in sending me reviews to put up, please check out the reviews that are already live to make sure you are not sending in a duplicate. To see the reviews I've already done visit the Archive or click HERE.
Also keep in mind that while I love a variety of genres I only review Young Adult on my blog. I have a strict no tolerance policy on trashing an author's work because even if you might not be into the book they have written, they worked hard and deserve to be respected. If it's not your thing it will surely be someone else's. That does not mean you are not allowed to express an honest opinion, but it will be expressed in a respectful and tactful manner. Please be sure to read Section 2 of my Review Policy.
All reviews sent will have to be approved by me before going online. If I decide to post your review I will email you back and let you know once your post has gone live. Please click here to see the information you need to send along with your review.
My email: crazedbookie(at)

So read, review and email me! Tell your friends and spread the word! Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Cursed by Jennifer L. Armentrout—Review and ARC Giveaway!

Hiya! Welcome to my stop on the JLA Summer Blog Tour hosted by the awesome Kayleigh over at K-Books! Hope you've all been hopping from blog to blog and have been enjoying it!For my stop I have a review of Cursed and an ARC Giveaway! Plus three more cool prizes for you!

The Book:

Release Date: September 18, 2012
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Series: Cursed #1
Characters: Ember McWilliams, Hayden Cromwell
Age Group: 14+
Pages: 312
Format: Paperback
Shelfability: Aquire
Source: Spencer Hill Press (Thanks a bunches!)
Pre-order the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: Dying sucks--and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't?

But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not've been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.

My Review: Well, Jennifer you just don't dissappoint me! Once I again I am completely enthralled by the world you have created and have fallen in love with your magnificent characters. When I first started the book, I kept in mind the synopsis of course and for some reason... everything was so not how I expected it to be! But in a good way. Ember's little sister has a special gift in which she can bring back the dead. Which is how Ember is still alive; but now poor Ember can't touch anything without killing it! All she longs for is human touch, to feel warmth and when Hayden steps in the picture... well, let's just say those urges increase some ;)
I loved the way Ember reacted to her whole situation because I thought it was pretty damn believable. I liked how she questioned and doubted their "kindness" and how she was smart and she tried to make everything work in spite of all the tragedies that kept happening back-to-back like some domino effect. All in all I loved this book and this only strengthens my love for all of Jennifer's work because she is truly just freaking awesome at writing. I can't wait to keep reading more form her and... well that's all folks! Make sure to mark September 18th on your calendar!

Blood Warrior by H.D Gordon

Release Date: September 25, 2011
Publisher: H.D Gordon
Series: Alexa Montgomery Saga #1
Characters: Alexa Montgomery, Nelliana Montgomery, Kayden, Jackson
Pages: 251
Format: Kindle Edition
Shelfability: Own/Aquire
Source: Nicole Passante
Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: When her home is attacked by murderous vampires, 17-year-old Alexa is forced to leave her mother for dead in order to save her sister. She soon learns that she is the last known member of an elite race of supernatural Warriors, and is thrust into a world full of vampires and werewolves who all seem to regard her as some sort of savior. Meanwhile, Alexa battles a monster within herself that seeks to gain control; a monster that seeks blood.

The hidden city she finds herself in appears perfect, but Alexa's instincts tell her that all is not right within its walls. When she is asked to attend a school of fighters, whose exams consist of gladiator-style competitions, she must decide who she can trust among the smiling faces. And, when she meets Kayden, a vampire she feels undeniably drawn to, she must decide if she can trust herself.

My Review: I love vampire stories and all the likes, so when I was offered a review copy I quickly snatched it up. The story in itself is very, very interesting and I loved the whole city behind the walls thing like the Trojan city. There's good mystery and it has you thinking and trying to decipher it. What I didn't love was Alexa. And not really, like, her per ser, it was more her relationship with Kayden. It was way too sudden for my taste. I felt that there was slim to none build up between them; they just jumped into this blind attraction thing and she was reluctant and trying to stay distanced from him I'll say that, but the feelings were there. I understand that it's because of some other things (which I shall not mention to avoid spoilers), but I just... grr! Plus, I am all for Jack. There I said it. I fell for Jack! All in all it's worth reading and I'm very curious as to the next one.

The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead

Release Date: June 12, 2012
Publisher: Razorbill
Series: Bloodlines #2
Characters: Sydney Sage, Adrian Ivashkov, Jill Mastrano, Eddie Castille
Age Group: 12+
Pages: 418
Format: Hardcover
Shelfability: Bought
Source: Bookstore
Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: Tough, brainy alchemist Sydney Sage and doe-eyed Moroi princess Jill Dragomir are in hiding at a human boarding school in the sunny, glamorous world of Palm Springs, California. The students--children of the wealthy and powerful--carry on with their lives in blissful ignorance, while Sydney, Jill, Eddie, and Adrian must do everything in their power to keep their secret safe. But with forbidden romances, unexpected spirit bonds, and the threat of Strigoi moving ever closer, hiding the truth is harder than anyone thought.
Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Richelle Mead's breathtaking Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles, and betrayals that made the #1 bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive.

My Review:  This book was very, very good. I was so excited when I finally read it! Bloodlines was awesome and VA of course was INCREDIBLE! That's part of why I read the spin-off, but mainly it was because it has my dear Adrian Ivashkov, whom I adore so and was greatly saddened to see him so devastated over Rose. I did love Dimitri, of course, and was happy to see him with Rose but I still ached for Adrian. It's all very subtle, but you can tell that Adrian is starting to develope an attraction towards Sydney. At the end of Bloodlines it was clear to all of us (except Sydney, who really is the most socially inept person ever) when he says, and I quote:    My God, Sage. Your eyes. They're like liquid gold. How have I never noticed them? [...] They're beautiful. You're beautiful.

I'm pretty sure he couldn't have been clearer in expressing his interest. Sydney infuriates me sometimes with her damn clulessness. I mean she's so smart and she can't figure out simple human interaction. Ugh. Anyway, I do admire her, apart from that. She's very responsible, dedicated, caring and a strong female that anyone could definitely look up to and praise. She works hard and I loved the way she handled a certain sticky situation, which I will not mention because then I'd just spoil everything. Loved it and I am very much desperate for The Indigo Spell.

[Spolier Alert]
[Be warned]
[Read no more if you want to avoid a Spoiler!]

I needed to add this.... OMG I was dying! I wanted Adrian to kiss Sydney sooo bad and damn I had to wait until the very end and then bam it was over! I'm dying to see the twist they're relationship will take now.

Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

To open up August with a BANG I'm going to review the highly anticipated sequel to Obsidian, Onyx!

Release Date: August 14, 2012
Publisher: Entangled Publishing
Series: Lux #2
Characters: Katy Swartz, Daemon Black, Dee Black
Age Group: 15+
Pages: 416
Format: ARC
Source: Publisher
Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

My Review: I'm going to start this review by giving an anecdote of my reaction upon receiving this wildly anticipating, sexy, to-die-for novel.
I'd already been emailed a few times by Caitlin and she'd given me my tour date and what my post would be about. I was told that we'd be receiving these amazing ARCs a month before the tour started. Mid-April I was feeling a little excited and every time I went into my email, I quickly scanned for an email from Caitlin. Near the end of April, still no show; and I was getting a wee bit anxious. I emailed Caitlin wondering if maybe there had been some changes and I had not been informed of them. She kindly responded that the ARCs would be sent out in waves and mine was scheduled for May 1st. Oh boy, did I start a total countdown. My fingers itched and my eyes burned for the chance and privilege to read such a sacrilegious book. On that day, I honest-to-God swear I must have refreshed my email throughout the day at least 20 times. The ARC was no show. I was so sad, but still had hope for the next day. By the night of May 2nd I was devastated and so anxious that I still hadn't received it. The days were dragging. Then the most wonderful thing happened on May 4, 2012; I logged into my email and saw my ARC of Onyx. I screamed, squealed, laughed, whooped, ran, shook my butt, did a little dance, yelled incoherences all at the same time. Yeah, just try and imagine it.
I immediately downloaded it and sat down to read for HOURS. I laughed, cried, cursed and got furious reading this book.
I love it when a novel gets these emotions out of me because it makes me love it more. It's so amazing when a story sucks you in so deeply that you can't even hear the exterior world and you react as if it were happening to you. In fact, my stepmom knocked and called out to me (I was in my room) and I didn't respond. Hours later, I exited my room to grab a glass of water and she asked, "Were you sleeping?"
Me: "Um, no. Why?"
Her: "I knocked and you didn't answer. I even called out your name, and nothing."
Me: "Are you serious? I didn't even her you. I was reading Onyx."
Her: "Oh, the one you told me about with the alien? That you were waiting for?"
Me: *nods head like out of control puppet, with scary grin on face*

LOL, so yeah. Sorry dear stepmom, I'd been in West Virginia at the moment sparring with my hot alien next-door neighbor.

I loved how Daemon and Katy don't lose their "essence". What I mean is that, even though, their relationship takes a slightly different turn because Daemon is determined to prove to Katy that he's attracted to her not because of their freaky alien thing, they still have that "I want to kill you" attitude. I love it when they argue and go at each others' throats; it's so sexy. (Yes, I know. I'm a sick, twisted little creature.) But, I also liked that Katy is also a bit more... comfortable around Daemon. It's not that she's not affected by him anymore, dear no, but it's like she can sort of hold her own now better.
The surprises of this book are unbelievable. The DOD are bastards. Yes, that is my opinion of them. I thought I had a pretty good idea about what would be going on, but man! oh man! was I surprised with all that went down! There's a lot of steam between Katy and Daemon (I had to constantly fan myself), and the creepy alien bond they have is pretty cool. There's so much emotion going on throughout the whole book that made me feel like on a roller coaster and that ending? Come on, Jen! Why'd you have to leave me hanging like that?
There's a lot of sneaking around, kissing, drama, hot Alien, DOD, SEXUAL FRUSTRATION, and many more that Jennifer serves as beautifully as a yummy cake.

And just to give you a little tease...

"What was that?" he asked, eyes narrowed. There was no mistaking the amusement on the tilt of his lips, though. "Very bad kitty..."
