Mortality by Kellie Sheridan—Cover Reveal+Giveaway!

Release Date: Spring 2013
Publisher: Kellie Sheridan
Characters: Savannah, Cole

Synopsis: After surviving a deadly plague outbreak, sixteen-year-old Savannah thought she had lived through the very worst of human history. There was no way to know that the miracle vaccine would put everyone at risk for a fate worse than un-death.

Now, two very different kinds of infected walk the Earth, intent on nothing but feeding and destroying what little remains of civilization. When the inoculated are bitten, infection means watching on in silent horror as self-control disappears and the idea of feasting on loved ones becomes increasingly hard to ignore.

Starving and forced to live inside of the abandoned high school, all Savannah wants is the chance to fight back. When a strange boy arrives with a plan to set everything right, she gets her chance. Meeting Cole changes everything. Mere survival will never be enough.

My Comments: This cover looks absolutely ah-mazing. Very intense, creepy and just awesome. I love the skin on the dead–undead?–girl looks. Can't wait to read this one!

Kiss and Make Up by Faye Robertson

Release Date: February 13, 2012
Publisher: Entangled Publishing (Indulgence)
Series: N/A
Characters: Tabby Rogers, Eli Black
Age Group: 18+
[WARNING: This book is NOT for children. Contains explicit sex scenes.]
Pages: 172
Format: Kindle
Source: Bookstore
Buy the Book: Amazon

**NOTE: I normally only review YA books on my blog, but I really loved this books and wanted to share it with you! It's super sexy and funny. Read i! If you're 18 or older or a mature young adult.

Synopsis: A fling of a lifetime...

With only a month left of filming on location in New Zealand, the last thing stuntman Eli Black is looking for is a relationship. He made a promise to his brother before he died that his next stop would be Hollywood. But Eli's will is put to the test when he meets the sexy new makeup artist, Tabby.

Tabby Rogers is heading off to London to a prestigious makeup artist school, and after her ex ruined her previous plans to attend, she’s determined that nothing will stand in her way again. But a steamy, no-strings-attached affair with gorgeous Eli is too tempting to pass up.

The sparks burn hotter than imaginable, but as responsibilities pull at them from opposite ends of the globe, it quickly becomes clear that something’s got to give. Must Tabby sacrifice her hard-won career for love? Or will Eli forever be the one who got away?

My Review: Okay, so I enjoy a very well written love story. This was one of those. I know the whole point of a romance novel is to sort of pull you from reality--I know. And while I swoon for these wow males, I appreciate a touch realism. I've read novels--I won't name any because I don't like trashing people's work--that while they were good to keep me from being bored, they weren't very good. Or at least not my type of good. I'd find myself rolling my eyes at the sudden irrational lust the very first time and like the next day--bam!--they give in and totally ravish each other. That is kind of irritating.
This story though, while she was drawn to him from the beginning, there was a sense of realism. Like, "Okay, I like this guy, he's hot. He'd be cool for a casual fling." But it wasn't like they were instantly at it. I loved that. I loved that she was thinking that it was ridiculous to be having sex with a stranger. I loved that they actually LIKED each other. In many novels the characters hate each other, and while it can be pretty hot, they can't be totally loathing on the guy and banging him at the same time. Seriously. You need things in common.
I loved Eli. He was sweet, funny, friendly, buff, totally cool stuntman, and just great. I loved that she could actually be friends with him, not just have this steamy relationship. That while they weren't dating, they could be friends. I loved seeing the many sides of the story and seeing all the situations that brought Eli and Tabby to where they were.
A great, entertaining, steamy and fun story with it's bittersweet scenes that made a little a turmoil in my stomach.

When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle

Release Date: April 26, 2012
Publisher: Simon and Schuster Children's Books
Series: N/A
Characters: Rosaline Caplet, Juliet Caplet, Rob Monteg, Len Stephens
Age Group: 14+
Pages: 352
Format: Paperback
Source: Bookstore
Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: In this intensely romantic, modern recounting of the greatest love story ever told, Romeo's original intended--Juliet's cousin Rosaline--tells her side of the tale. "What's in a name, Shakespeare? I'll tell you: Everything.

"Rosaline knows that she and Rob are destined to be together. Rose has been waiting for years for Rob to kiss her--and when he finally does, it's perfect. But then Juliet moves back to town. Juliet, who used to be Rose's best friend. Juliet, who now inexplicably hates her. Juliet, who is gorgeous, vindictive, and a little bit crazy...and who has set her sights on Rob. He doesn't even stand a chance.

Rose is devastated over losing Rob to Juliet. This is not how the story was supposed to go. And when rumors start swirling about Juliet's instability, her neediness, and her threats of suicide, Rose starts to fear not only for Rob's heart, but also for his life. Because Shakespeare may have gotten the story wrong, but we all still know how it ends....

My Review: Okay. So, this story took me on a wild ride of emotions. I absolutely adored it. It was very intense and I had so much sympathy for Rose, but also frustration. And contempt and anger at Rob. Loathing towards Juliet. Like, I said, a lot of emotions. Rose is super devastated after Juliet totally sweeps Rob from her and I was so hurt because Rob just "fell in love" with this girl? Who he just frigging met, for crissakes?! That's a load of crock! He's known Rose for so long and they have been together forever and.... ugh I was so indignant. Anyway, then Len is always just kinda lurking in the sidelines all the time, teasing Rose and I had this feeling about him... he would be someone important. He was already someone I liked for some reason, so I was all rooting for Len. What for, exactly? I had no clue, but it gradually grew clearer. He was the friend Rose needed in all the craziness and yet...
Yet I am going to shut my mouth before I spill the beans. Anyway, very good story, pretty darned fresh and intense in my opinion. A must read :)

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. Kai Michaels, in her romantic comedy debut novel, creates a hilarious story of friendship and first love aimed at the hearts of today's texting generation. Product Description How do you tell the girl next door that you are in love with her when you're a shy sixteen-year-old boy? You don't--you text her! But Colton soon finds that when it comes to matters of the heart, it's best not to leave your fate in the hands of technology. Kai Michaels, in her romantic comedy debut novel, creates a hilarious story of friendship and first love aimed at the hearts of today's texting generation.

My Review: I loved this story! It was cute, funny and short; just my perfect quick getaway from school and work. The whole mess starts when Colton texts his best friend, Annie, a love confession from his new cell... but Annie totally thinks it's another guy! After that everything pretty much goes downhill for poor Colton. I also had a blast with Mo, Colton's guy best friend. He was always so chillax and funny. I loved him! And then he wants to go all Dr. Phil and... well you'll see what happens there. (Amazing buns! Ha! Cracked up hard.)
Colton is a case my friends. He's only trying to help Annie, but at the same time trying to make it work out for him and that is a sinking ship.
The plot was fresh, funny, cute and it had a lot of innocence which I loved. It's a very short and quick read, two hours tops, but very enjoyable. I definitely recommend it.

While It Lasts by Abbi Glines

Release Date: July 31, 2012
Publisher: Abbi Glines
Series: Sea Breeze #3
Characters: Cage York, Eva Brooks, Jeremy Beasly
Age Group: Mature Teens
Pages: 304
Format: Kindle
Source: Bookstore
Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: Maybe driving home after a few (or more) shots of tequila had been a bad idea, but hell, he did it all the time. The cops had to have been freaking bored to have pulled him over. He wasn’t even swerving! That’s Cage York’s story and he’s sticking to it.

Unfortunately, his baseball coach isn’t buying it. Cage has a free ride to the local junior college for baseball -- or he did, until he’d gotten a DUI. Now, Cage has to decide: does he drop out and give up his dream of getting noticed by a college in the SEC, and possibly making it into the Major Leagues -- or does he give in to his coach’s demands and spend his summer baling hay?

Eva Brooks planned out her life step by step when she was eight years old. Not once over the years had she lost sight of her goals. Josh Beasley, her next door neighbor, had been the center of those goals. He’d been her first boyfriend at seven, her first kiss at ten, her first date at fifteen, and her first tragedy at eighteen. The moment she’d received the phone call from Josh’s mother saying he’d been killed along with four other soldiers just north of Baghdad, Eva’s carefully planned life imploded in the worst way possible.

Cage isn’t real happy with his closet-sized bedroom in the back of a foul smelling barn, or his daily interactions with cows, but he knows that if he doesn’t make his coach happy then he can kiss his scholarship goodbye. Only a sick and twisted man would decide his punishment was to be working on a farm all summer. No hot babes in bikinis waiting to meet a Southern boy to make her vacation complete. Just him and the damned cows.

Oh -- and an uptight, snarky brunette with the biggest blue eyes he’s every seen. But she doesn’t count, because as hard as he’s tried to charm her out of her panties - he’s pretty sure she’d rather see him hung from the rafters than let him get a taste of her pretty little lips.

My Review: I love Abbi's The Vincent Boys and I haven't read The Vincent Brothers as yet, but I am dying to. I did not, however, love the Sea Breeze series for some reason. I'm not saying they were bad, I just didn't find them as appealing as I would have liked. But, I did read both of them and when I saw this third one and read the synopsis I just had to read it! It was my type of story. There is nothing better than seeing a bad boy go weak at the knees over a girl. In Because of Low we got to know Cage a bit and I admit I was completely intrigued by him because of how protective he was of Low and how he absolutely crazy he was, but still dedicated to baseball. In this novel we see Cage actually wanting just one girl and she totally doesn't want him! The thing is he doesn't know that she's struggling with a severe broken heart and OMG was that so sad. I loved how she slowly opened to Cage; and I loved how Cage incessantly teased her! It was a great story and I definitely liked it! ... for some reason I felt that something was missing though. Don't ask me what, because I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel like there should have been a something more. It was still really good though :)

Tangled Tides by Karen Amanda Hooper

Release Date: November 25, 2011
Publisher: Rhemalda Publishing
Series: The Sea Monster Memoirs #1
Characters: Yara Jones, Treygan, Rownan
Age Group: 12+
Pages: 328
Format: Kindle
Source: Author
Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: Yara Jones doesn't believe in sea monsters-until she becomes one. When a hurricane hits her island home and she wakes up with fins, Yara finds herself tangled up in an underwater world of mysterious merfolk and secretive selkies. Both sides believe Yara can save them by fulfilling a broken promise and opening the sealed gateway to their realm, but they are battling over how it should be done. The selkies want to take her life. The merfolk want something far more precious.

Treygan, the stormy-eyed merman who turned Yara mer, will stop at nothing and sacrifice everything to protect his people-until he falls for Yara. The tides turn as Yara fights to save herself, hundreds of sea creatures, and the merman who has her heart. She could lose her soul in the process-or she might open the gateway to a love that's deeper than the oceans.

My Review: The first thing that I'll say is that the cover is absolutely stunning! I fell in love with it immediately! This book was soooooooooooooo good! What I loved most—apart from being awesomely unique and having wonderful creatures—was that it had intrigue. I mean, you didn't know who was the bad guy here. I'm thinking, "Oh he's totally the bad guy!" Then I'm like, "No way, the other guy is the bad guy!" Then after a few more pages, "Who the heck is the bad guy here!"
I loved that it kept me guessing and I totally fell for Treygan, even when he was being an arse... and okay, Rownan had his appeal, but he was so weird at times that I had my suspicions. But then Treygan would be all mysterious and mean and I'd change my mind again, haha. Yara is totally stubborn (Yamabuki!) and I loved that she was real pissed at her whole mer situation. I mean, I'd be real mad, too, if I was taken from my house and turned into a mer all of a sudden, even if it has it's freaking cool perks. The point is, I'd like the chance to decide. So, hooray for Yara! I definitely am looking forward to the sequel :)

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

Release Date: February 28, 2012
Publisher: Harper Teen
Series: Delirium #2
Characters: Lena Haloway, Raven, Tack, Julian Fineman
Age Group: 14+
Pages: 375
Format: Hardcover
Source: Bookstore
Buy the Book: Amazon

Synopsis: I'm pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school,
push,
push,
push,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame.

Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times bestseller, Delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite.

My Review: You know those books that make you want to cry, laugh insanely, hurl things at the wall and scream? This is one of those books. Just like the first one, Delirium. Oliver just has this way to make you truly experience a story and just dive in so deep that when you take a lungful of air you're sputtering and blubbering like an idiot with how freaking genius the story is! Oliver delivers and boy! does she deliver!
Okay, so I was excited to read this because I was dying to know if Alex was really alive. I was so torn and heartbroken when Lena kept running and Alex died. I was so frustrated and ag! It was awful. I cried like an idiot, just really like you wouldn't believe! So, this story was pretty action-packed and intense. Lena is supposed to keep an eye on Julian though she doesn't know why and when hell breaks loose in a conference they are in she sticks to the kid like glue and they both end up kidnapped. Lena tries to free them both, but things get complicated when Julian finds out that Lena is an Invalid...
The book goes back and forth between Now and Then, Lena when she first escaped and how she adapted to the Wilds and how she's coping and dealing with life nowadays. It was amazing and that ending was just so incredible and such a cliffhanger that I just am going insane! It left me my insides all twisted and OMG I cannot wait for Requiem!

I am just dying to read this book like you wouldn't believe! The second book ended in such a cliffhanger and left me so furious, curious, a little insane and simply in complete turmoil. It's one of those books that's so fucking good that and genius that you don't know whether to put it in a pedestal or burn it. yeah, those types of books are the best. the ones that make you feel so... ARGH!

This week's pick is...

Release Date: March 5, 2013

But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancĂ©e of the young mayor. Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.

Since I'm dying to read this book, obviously I have read Pandemonium... so expect a review very soon ;)

Scarlet by A.C Gaughen—Guest Reviewer

Series: N/A
Characters: Scarlet, Robin, Much, Little John, Gisborne, Sheriff of Nottingham
Age Group: 12+
Pages: 292
Format: Hardcover
Source: Library

Synopsis: Many readers know the tale of Robin Hood, but they will be swept away by this new version full of action, secrets, and romance.
Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the wrath of the evil Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only the Hood and his band know the truth: the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. Helping the people of Nottingham outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham could cost Scarlet her life as Gisbourne closes in.
It’s only her fierce loyalty to Robin—whose quick smiles and sharp temper have the rare power to unsettle her—that keeps Scarlet going and makes this fight worth dying for.

Guest Reviewer: Bridget
Age: 27
State/Country: Idaho, U.S
Rating: 5 Stars

Review: I love fairy tale retelling, and this is a great retelling of one of my favorite legends Robin Hood. Everyone has heard of the infamous Will Scarlet but did you know that he is a girl? In this book Scarlet is a girl posing as a boy in Robins band of merry men. The band steals from the rich to save the poor from the evil sheriff of Nottingham.
Scarlet is our heroine in this book and I adore her. I always love girls that can take care of themselves and aren't always a damsel in distress. Scarlet is an amazing thief  and she is the one that is always breaking all their friends out of prison. She also has a big secret that she hasn't told anyone not even Robin. Scarlet is such a likable character she has a great personality with lots of spunk. She has a beautiful soft side that shines through every once in a while, but she is always putting on the tuff guy front so no can see how much she is really hurting. As the book goes on her layers are peeled away one at a time and you get to see who she really is. She is just a young beautiful girl that has a past that she is trying to make up for.
Robin is our wonderful hero in this book and I love him. He leads his band to try and protect the people that are truly his subjects. His title was stripped from him by Prince John who then appointed the sheriff to rule. Robin is a wonderful leader he cares about his men's safety more then his own and he has a special spot in his heart for Scarlet. He feels unworthy of love because of his past so he is always trying to push her away.
A.C. Gaughen has wonderful writing and I cant believe that this is her debut novel. The world she created is beautiful and very intriuging. The book is very fast paced and hard to put down. The ending was left pretty open so I really hope that there is a sequel to come, but if not I will be defiantly be reading anything else this author writes because this book was so good!!!!

Reviewers Wanted!!!

Hey guys! :)

As I've mentioned before I am going to start University this Fall and I finally start on Monday! Yipee! But before that I've had to go for other matters, like orientations and welcome assembly type things and other stuff. I'm also working during the afternoons and working on this top secret thing and am reading **** with the awesome **** that is just wow, but it also takes up my remaining time, so I am super tired when I get home! And as you can see I cannot post as frequently as I would like and once I start to take my courses on Monday I'll have even less time. I don't want to leave my readers hanging or be totally AWOL, so on account of I love all of you guys I am soliciting reviewers!
They would be doing guest reviews on my blog and that way I can review more frequently on the blog instead of just when I have to time to read and review something. Those of you interested in sending me reviews to put up, please check out the reviews that are already live to make sure you are not sending in a duplicate. To see the reviews I've already done visit the Archive or click HERE.
Also keep in mind that while I love a variety of genres I only review Young Adult on my blog. I have a strict no tolerance policy on trashing an author's work because even if you might not be into the book they have written, they worked hard and deserve to be respected. If it's not your thing it will surely be someone else's. That does not mean you are not allowed to express an honest opinion, but it will be expressed in a respectful and tactful manner. Please be sure to read Section 2 of my Review Policy.
All reviews sent will have to be approved by me before going online. If I decide to post your review I will email you back and let you know once your post has gone live. Please click here to see the information you need to send along with your review.
